Precise Advisory Group adds personnel, expands expertise

MIAMI, Sept. 11, 2013 –Precise Advisory Group, a business and legal strategy advisory group to the sports industry, has expanded its team of professionals and its service offerings available to clients.  Noted sports practitioner Michael L. Buckner is the newest advisor with Precise Advisory Group, while Nelson Bobb, Robert Mathner and Justin Sievert have been named consultants.

About Michael L. Buckner
Michael L. Buckner is a licensed attorney and a former licensed private investigator who advises sports organizations on compliance, investigation, due diligence, ethics, training, and management enhancement issues and practices. A published author, Buckner’s books include: “Athletics Investigation Handbook: A Guide for Institutions and Involved Parties During the NCAA Enforcement Process” (2004) and “The ABCs of Ethics: A Resource for Leaders, Managers, and Professionals,” (2007).  In addition to his role with Precise Advisory Group, Buckner is a shareholder in the Michael L. Buckner Law Firm. He was formerly with Holland & Knight LLP, where he headed its collegiate sports administration and compliance practice. He also represented clients in education, commercial, product liability and appellate litigation legal matters.  In high school, Buckner was a swimmer, cross country and track athlete.  Buckner earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations and social sciences and communication in 1993 from the University of Southern California and a law degree in 1996 from Florida State University.

About Nelson Bobb
Nelson E. Bobb serves as a consultant to Precise Advisory Group. He has enjoyed a distinguished professional career devoted to higher education and intercollegiate athletics, including 26 years as the athletic director at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).  A recognized leader in intercollegiate athletics nationally, Bobb held various conference and NCAA appointments, including serving four times on NCAA certification teams. He was a member of the Division I Men’s Soccer National Committee and chaired the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules Committee. He also served on NACDA’s I-AAA Executive Committee in 2007-08.  He was inducted into UNCG’s Athletics Hall of Fame in February 2008. He was also named the Division I Southeast Region Athletic Director of the Year at the NACDA Convention in 2008. At the time of his retirement from UNCG after 26 years in 2009, Bobb had the longest tenure as an athletic director in the University of North Carolina system and in the Southern Conference. In June 2012, Bobb was inducted into the NACDA Hall of Fame.  Bobb earned a B.S. in History and a Masters of Education from Kent State University. He resides in Greensboro, N.C.

About Robert P. Mathner
Robert P. Mathner serves as a consultant to Precise Advisory Group and also is an associate professor and undergraduate program coordinator in the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management at Troy University in Alabama.  He has worked in a variety of sport industry related roles and brings a wealth of experience to his role with Precise Advisory Group, having worked in administrative/coaching capacities at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. Dr. Mathner was an assistant athletics director at the University of Central Florida (UCF), director of compliance at Syracuse University, and compliance coordinator at the University of Montana. In addition, he has worked with the Atlanta Braves and as a high school teacher coach. A baseball and football player in high school and college football player at University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Mathner earned his Ph.D. from The Florida State University, Master of Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He lives in Enterprise, Ala.

About Justin Sievert
Justin P. Sievert serves as a consultant to Precise Advisory Group on issues relating to sports business and legal strategy. His prior professional experiences include stints at various NCAA member institutions where he worked in compliance, business operations, event management and facility operations, as well as in private legal practice where he focused on general civil litigation. In addition, Sievert served as a track and field coach and strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level and was invited by the USA Track & Field and United States Olympic Committee to participate in their respective emerging elite coaches programs.  Sievert is considered an expert on sports business and law-related issues and is often requested for national media commentaries and interviews.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Union College in 2003, where he was a captain of both the football team (where he was a two-time all-conference selection) and the track and field team (where he was a three-time All-American and NCAA Regional Track and Field Athlete of the Year as a senior). He received a Master’s degree in Education from St. Lawrence University in 2005 and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2008.
